Butterfly Trellis - Free Parchment Pattern

 

 

These instructions are intended to be used in conjunction with the pattern sheets and grid pattern on the FREE DOWNLOAD PAGE.

 

For this pattern you will need:

 

LOW TACK TAPE

WHITE PENCIL

BLACK MICRON PEN

RULER

POLYCHROMOS PENCILS

PARCHMENT PAPER

PCA MEGA , SMALL AND MICRO BALL TOOL

PCA DIAGONAL BOLD GRID

PCA UNIBOLD,

PCA FINE TWIN TOOL

PERFORATING MAT AND EMBOSSING MAT

PARCHMENT SCISSORS OR PERGA CUTTERS

PCA ARC EDGE

THIN WIRE FOR ANTENNA

COLOURED CARD

SMALL SUN TOOL

SILICONE GLUE

 

 

Instructions:

 

 

FIX THE PARCHMENT TO THE PATTERN AND TRACE WITH WHITE PENCIL -DO NOT TRACE THE BUTTERFLIES
FIX THE PARCHMENT TO THE PATTERN AND TRACE WITH WHITE PENCIL -DO NOT TRACE THE BUTTERFLIES
KEEPING THE PARCHMENT ATTACHED TO THE PATTERN COLOUR THE BUTTERFLIES STARTING WITH THE DARKEST COLOUR AT THE EDGE OF THE WING, BLEND TO LIGHT COLOURS NEAR THE BODY
KEEPING THE PARCHMENT ATTACHED TO THE PATTERN COLOUR THE BUTTERFLIES STARTING WITH THE DARKEST COLOUR AT THE EDGE OF THE WING, BLEND TO LIGHT COLOURS NEAR THE BODY
WHEN YOU HAVE FINISHED COLOURING THE SMALL BUTTERFLIES REMOVE THE PATTERN. PLACE PARCHMENT RIGHT SIDE DOWN ON TO AN EMBOSSING MAT - EMBOSS THE WHITE PENCIL LINES AND DOTS WITH A SMALL BALL TOOL
WHEN YOU HAVE FINISHED COLOURING THE SMALL BUTTERFLIES REMOVE THE PATTERN. PLACE PARCHMENT RIGHT SIDE DOWN ON TO AN EMBOSSING MAT - EMBOSS THE WHITE PENCIL LINES AND DOTS WITH A SMALL BALL TOOL
TURN THE PARCHMENT TO THE RIGHT SIDE ERASE THE WHITE PENCIL  ON THE FRONT, DON'T ERASE THE BUTTERFLIES! DRAW A LINE WITH WHITE PENCIL IN AN ARC FROM THE TOP LEFT TO THE BOTTOM RIGHT AS A GUIDE LINE FOR THE PERFORATIONS (SEE PATTERN).
TURN THE PARCHMENT TO THE RIGHT SIDE ERASE THE WHITE PENCIL ON THE FRONT, DON'T ERASE THE BUTTERFLIES! DRAW A LINE WITH WHITE PENCIL IN AN ARC FROM THE TOP LEFT TO THE BOTTOM RIGHT AS A GUIDE LINE FOR THE PERFORATIONS (SEE PATTERN).
PLACE THE PARCHMENT ON A DIAGONAL GRID AND PERFORATING MAT - THEN LINE UP THE DIAGONAL GRID
PLACE THE PARCHMENT ON A DIAGONAL GRID AND PERFORATING MAT - THEN LINE UP THE DIAGONAL GRID
PERFORATE TO THE LINE ACCORDING TO THE PATTERN - I USED A BOLD SLOT TOOL TO MAKE THIS QUICKER
PERFORATE TO THE LINE ACCORDING TO THE PATTERN - I USED A BOLD SLOT TOOL TO MAKE THIS QUICKER
CLOSE UP SHOWING THE PERFORATING UP TO THE LINE YOU HAVE DRAWN
CLOSE UP SHOWING THE PERFORATING UP TO THE LINE YOU HAVE DRAWN
CLOSE UP OF THE PERFORATIONS UP TO THE LINE YOU HAVE DRAWN
CLOSE UP OF THE PERFORATIONS UP TO THE LINE YOU HAVE DRAWN
CONTINUE THE PATTERN IN THE OTHER DIRECTION, YOU  SHOULD HAVE 9 UNPERFORATED HOLES IN THE CENTRE OF EACH SQUARE.
CONTINUE THE PATTERN IN THE OTHER DIRECTION, YOU SHOULD HAVE 9 UNPERFORATED HOLES IN THE CENTRE OF EACH SQUARE.

TAKE THE PARCHMENT OFF THE GRID AND CHANGE TO AN EMBOSSING MAT. ON THE BACK OF THE PARCHMENT EMBOSS A FINE LINE WITH A MICRO BALL TOOL BETWEEN THE DOUBLE ROWS OF PERFORATIONS
TAKE THE PARCHMENT OFF THE GRID AND CHANGE TO AN EMBOSSING MAT. ON THE BACK OF THE PARCHMENT EMBOSS A FINE LINE WITH A MICRO BALL TOOL BETWEEN THE DOUBLE ROWS OF PERFORATIONS
THIS IS THE RIGHT SIDE SHOWING THE EMBOSSED LINES
THIS IS THE RIGHT SIDE SHOWING THE EMBOSSED LINES
ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE PARCHMENT CUT OUT THE SQUARES WITH PARCHMENT SCISSORS/ CUTTERS
ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE PARCHMENT CUT OUT THE SQUARES WITH PARCHMENT SCISSORS/ CUTTERS
PERFORATE THE EDGE WITH THE UNIBOLD TOOL SO THAT  YOU CAN CUT THE PART SQUARES AT THE EDGE. ON THE BACK EMBOSS A SCALLOP EDGE WITH A SMALL BALL TOOL (REFER TO PATTERN)
PERFORATE THE EDGE WITH THE UNIBOLD TOOL SO THAT YOU CAN CUT THE PART SQUARES AT THE EDGE. ON THE BACK EMBOSS A SCALLOP EDGE WITH A SMALL BALL TOOL (REFER TO PATTERN)
COLOUR YOUR LARGE BUTTERFLIES OR EMBOSS THEM IN YOUR OWN STYLE. I TRACED MINE WITH A BLACK MICRON PEN AND THEN COLOURED WITH POLYCHROMOS PENCILS
COLOUR YOUR LARGE BUTTERFLIES OR EMBOSS THEM IN YOUR OWN STYLE. I TRACED MINE WITH A BLACK MICRON PEN AND THEN COLOURED WITH POLYCHROMOS PENCILS
ON THE RIGHT SIDE PERFORATE OUTSIDE  THE EMBOSSED LINE USING AN ARC EDGE PERFORATING TOOL TO FINISH THE EDGE AND A TWIN NEEDLE TO PERFORATE THE BOTTOM EDGE
ON THE RIGHT SIDE PERFORATE OUTSIDE THE EMBOSSED LINE USING AN ARC EDGE PERFORATING TOOL TO FINISH THE EDGE AND A TWIN NEEDLE TO PERFORATE THE BOTTOM EDGE
ON THE BACK EMBOSS IN EACH SCALLOP WITH THE SMALL SUN TOOL. CUT THE EDGE NEATLY
ON THE BACK EMBOSS IN EACH SCALLOP WITH THE SMALL SUN TOOL. CUT THE EDGE NEATLY
CUT A CARD TO MATCH
CUT A CARD TO MATCH
SEW THE PARCHMENT TO THE CARD (SEE MY BLOG FOR SEWING INSTRUCTIONS)

TIE THE KNOT OFF ON THE INSIDE THEN CONCEAL IT BEHIND THE  INSERT
TIE THE KNOT OFF ON THE INSIDE THEN CONCEAL IT BEHIND THE INSERT
PERFORATE AROUND THE LARGE BUTTERFLIES WITH A TWIN TOOL
PERFORATE AROUND THE LARGE BUTTERFLIES WITH A TWIN TOOL
THEN START CUTTING THE PERFORATIONS NEATLY TO FORM A PICOT EDGE
THEN START CUTTING THE PERFORATIONS NEATLY TO FORM A PICOT EDGE
EMBOSS THE BACK OF THE BUTTERFLIES LIGHTLY
EMBOSS THE BACK OF THE BUTTERFLIES LIGHTLY
I HAVE GLUED A MARBLE VELLUM (CUT TO SIZE) BEHIND THE TRELLIS. ATTACH THE ANTENNA (MADE FROM CRAFT WIRE) TO THE BUTTERFLIES WITH SILICONE GLUE AND THEN ATTACH TO THE TRELLIS.
I HAVE GLUED A MARBLE VELLUM (CUT TO SIZE) BEHIND THE TRELLIS. ATTACH THE ANTENNA (MADE FROM CRAFT WIRE) TO THE BUTTERFLIES WITH SILICONE GLUE AND THEN ATTACH TO THE TRELLIS.
